This was them last summer. They melt my heart.
And this was them this week, playing in the new chicken coop that our friends are building. We couldn't get them outta there for a very long time. Two househelpers and a Mama were coaxing and convincing in every way possible to get these tykes to come out for lunch and naps, but they wouldn't hear of it. Apparently life is too good when you're cozy in a chicken coop with your BFF!
Our house is just across the yard and up the hill from Lynlee's house, and one time Asa and Lynlee heard each other's voices across the yard and started running toward each other, then ran into each other's arms with a hug and fell down from the impact without letting go, a Hallmark movie come to life.
I am already grieving that Asa won't have playdates with Lynlee in the next couple months. He'll be in America and she'll still be in Kenya. I know he'll say her name and look outside for her, and my Mama heart is going to break. So I'm cherishing these last days they have together, chasing each other around the building and climbing the Pepper Tree and sneaking into the chicken coop. What joy they bring to each other, and what joy they bring to me!
