Ready for a New Year

We recently had a week of vacation, which was much needed.  We went to Nairobi for a couple days, then headed to another place a few hours away which offered us the quietiest and most relaxing days we've experienced since moving to Kenya.  It wasn't fancy - in fact, we felt like we were at camp - but we were undisturbed, which we really needed.  So after reading books and watching movies and breathing deeply, we're ready to dive back in to life at Tenwek.

The next few months will be different than usual because Eli will be exchanging his doctorial duties for Swahili studies.  After a week of rest (and realizing how exhausted we were), his language study is a welcome change because it means Eli will be home in the afternoons.  He'll be studying Swahili at home, but he'll be home.  It's a blessed way to begin the new year!  Last year was crazy in so many ways, and this year will probably be more crazy than not, but we'll kickstart 2017 by slowing our pace and focusing on our family.  We thank God for the chance to do so!

  1. Wow! Asa has really turned into big boy; does not look like a baby anymore at all in these photos. My heart is glad for your time of rest and a more extended time coming where the daily routine is different.

  2. Eli!!! You were on my heart tonight, thankfully a quick Google search led me to where you (and your beautiful family) are. Can I tell you how many times in the past 14 years God has placed you in my heart? It's a lot. A lot a lot. You helped lead me to Jesus so many years ago.
Evan and I have been married for 13 years, we have three beautiful girls, our oldest- Adelaide has the voice of an angel and dreams to be a minister, a psychologist, or a youth pastor. Elliana is 9, she is a pistol but wears her heart on her sleeve. Scarlett will be 5 on 6/20, she has our hearts and is prepared to conquer the world.
Eli, I cannot tell you how thrilled I am, you have found your soulmate and calling. I was not surprised to find you are a physician and healing those in Kenya- God's work. I am an NP in heart failure and transplant, Evan is a financial advisor, we are raising our girls in TN. I will pray for you, your wife, and your beautiful boys daily. Continue God's work, Eli and he safe. Blessings to your family ❤️
